Recently rented a tent, tables and chairs for a wedding rehearsal dinner by speaking to the owner in person. They were to set up tent, we had to do tables and chairs. When the crew arrived the morning of they informed my wife that set-up of the tent was not included, but she could pay them cash and they would do. I called A-1 and the woman there said that was not allowable, she would bill my card $50, which she did. The set-up was done, but we had to adjust to make it look right. Tent was dirty and musty smelling, which one of the deliverers said they hear a lot. Chair seats were stuck to frames and had to be wiped down. I called the owner on Monday and he told me that I shouldn't have been billed, after I told him the $50 was going to buy him a lot of negative advertising. He said he would credit my card immediately, as we had originally paid for set-up. The credit has never shown up. I would definitely recommend looking elsewhere for your rental needs, as what you get is not what you expect and their customer service is terrible. Plus it's hard to tell if the whole "pay us cash" thing is a planned scam or a one-off type thing.
A1 wasnt the problem though. Uhaul however sucks! Took 3 hours trying to do self check in truck, ended up having to make totally different reservation and pick up in a different location. They couldnt figure out how to fix issue. Transfered to 11 different people on phone. They wanyed to send me 40 miles to a rental place that was open since the self check system is horrible. Was on phone for close to 2 hours. Have dealt with A1 before, they are great!

There's just not enough space to explain the awful experience I had with A-1 Rentall Plainwell. . At first they were friendly , but the second you complain about one thing they are mean, nasty, and spiteful people and they lied to us about several things. I rented a tent, tables, and chairs for my wedding and the quality of their products are not worth the price you pay AT ALL. First off they tried to deliver it 4 days before my wedding(Tuesday), when I told them no that it wouldn't work because the property still needed to be mowed they called me back and said that they can leave the tables and chairs in the parking lot and still set up the tent and we can just mow underneath the tent. We still said no, but said they could set up at 2pm on Thursday so my fiancée and I could both be present. I received a call on Thursday at 11 AM saying they arrived at 9 AM and the tent was already set up and they are finishing up, when I called, the owner basically said, "it's not my problem and there's nothing we can do about it." I immediately left work and drove to the property site only to find that the tent was dirty and nasty and they brought the wrong tables. My fiancée called the owner and we asked for the tent to be cleaned because it was absolutely filthy and had holes all over it and we asked for it to be set up the right way since not even an hour after it was set up it was falling apart, it was so bad to the point that they had to come back 3 times to fix the tent (not to mention they brought an orange construction strap as one of the tent stake ropes while all the others were white) because of all this we asked for a partial refund and they agreed to those terms. They sent out two boys to clean and fix the entire tent by themselves, when I went out there at 6:00 pm (Thursday) to see how the tent was looking, I told the boys that it looked better (still not as clean as what it should be since I paid over $1,300 for this service but it was two days before my wedding and this is what I was left with.) The next day (Friday, the day before our wedding) my fiancée called about the refund they replied, "We thought you did not want a refund anymore because you told the boys they did a good job." My fiancée told the owner he is still expecting a partial refund and the owner tried to push it off to Monday, but my fiancée insisted that it be immediate and drove to A-1 right away. When my fiancée arrived the owner would not even come out of his office and sent his wife instead, she snatched my fiancée's bank card out of his hand, slammed it back on the table, and threw a pen at my fiancée after all that she said, "you're lucky you dealt with Aaron, because if it were me you would not be getting any kind of a refund." Terrible experience with terrible people and I'm glad it is over with, I am telling EVERYONE to never go to A-1 Rentall. Also they left two ladders behind on our property and still do not know that they are missing and it has been nearly 3 weeks! Poor Business Management! *EDIT: They came back 4 months later to collect their ladders with no notice at all, we left one outside, in a hurry they thought they could grab their ladder and no one would notice, luckily someone saw them and tried to ask them what they were doing, they replied that they were getting their ladder, and then quickly got in their truck in left. If they had any business professionalism about them, they would have came and knocked on the door or called us, so we could tell them where their other ladder is at. Which is still on our property.....
Never do business with these people. Terrible customer service and does not know how to run a business.
